Amy Edwards Obituary
Amy Yvonne Edwards of Taber, Alberta, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 19, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents Alva & Amy Wright, her husband Sam Edwards, her brothers Lowell and Karl, and son-in-law DeWayne Holman. She is survived by her children: Ruth Holman (DeWayne-deceased), Brad (Abbie) Edwards, Barbara (Darcy) Fajnor, her grandchildren: Dustin (Aleigha) Holman, Tyler Holman, Shantelle Holman, Clint Holman, and two sisters-in-law: Barbara Wright of Taber and Betty LeBaron of Arizona.
Mom was born in Lethbridge on December 23, 1936 to Alva B. and Amy Matilda (Zaugg) Wright. She grew up in Stirling, Alberta, surrounded by loving parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved to reminisce about all the things they did, and all the fun times they spent together.
On March 31, 1960, Mom married the love of her life, a deep blue-eyed Aussie immigrant, Samuel Hubert Edwards. Together they raised their family, living first in Lethbridge, then Diamond City, Shaughnessy, Barnwell, and finally Taber.
How do you sum up in a few words the life of such a wonderful mother and grandmother. Mom was very active and creative. She loved going places and seeing new things. She was always busy sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning and preserving, helping Dad and raising us. She was a very kind, compassionate, gentle, uncomplaining and generous woman. Just a few years ago she donated over 100 afghans that she had crocheted to several local charities but she didn’t want any public recognition for that. That was just her way. Her quiet acts of service and love have blessed many lives.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very devoted to her Saviour, Jesus Christ, and His gospel—serving gladly in whatever calling was extended to her. She will be sorely missed here but we are happy for the reunion she is now having with family and loved ones on the other side. We love you Mom.
At Mom’s request, and due to the cold weather, a brief family graveside service will be held at the Barnwell cemetery at 10:00 am on Tuesday November 26, 2024. Immediately following, the family will meet at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Barnwell for a short memorial service.
