Heinz Schwarz Obituary
Heinrich Walter Gustav Adolf Kirmse was born in Parchim, Germany on November 21, 1938. He escaped East Germany with his mother at age 11 and settled briefly in Hamburg. He was adopted by his new step-father and took the last name of Schwarz. He immigrated to Canada at age 13 where he was raised by his aunt and uncle (siblings) in Edmonton. As a young man he decided to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant. Later he met Donna Sharp, who was a secretary in the same building, and they married at Fellowship Baptist Church in Edmonton in 1964. While on vacation in 1968 in Victoria, BC, he applied for a job with the Provincial Government on a whim and to their surprise, he won the competition. They promptly moved to Victoria where they later added to their family with 2 daughters, Jodie and Lisa. Heinz had a heart for youth and was involve as a youth leader at his churches in both Edmonton and Victoria. He was involved with Camp Silversides as a cook and driver for out trips where he volunteered in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Heinz and Donna retired to Alberta in 2000 and moved between Lacombe, Camrose and Lacombe County. Heinz loved nature photography, singing at church, hiking, camping and in his later years, driving for hours in the country. He was involved in numerous choirs and quartets, both at Central Baptist Church, in Victoria and also at Meadowbrook Church, in Ponoka County. Heinz was predeceased by his wife, Donna in 2013. He is survived by his daughters, Jodie (Barry) Oram, their children, Ethan, Jessa (Jake) Durrant, Sydney and Tyson; Lisa (Chris) Warke and their sons, Noah and Nelson; his half-sister, a niece, nephews and their families. We would like to extend our thanks to the kindness, care and compassion of the staff on 3400 at Extendicare Michener Hill in Red Deer, where Dad spent his last three and a half years.
Dad and Papa, thank you for the legacy you have left. You loved us well. We are thankful you are reunited with Donna and your Savior. You will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A Celebration of Heinz’s Life will be held at the Meadowbrook Church (421076 Hwy792) on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
