G. Wayne Petch Obituary
Wayne passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at the age of 78 after a short battle with cancer. He was previously deceased by his wife, Judy, the day after their only child, Tyler, was born.
Wayne was born on March 21, 1945 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan & lived his life split between Moose Jaw, Calgary, Lacombe & Red Deer. He was a hardworking, dedicated, single father to his only son, Tyler, a loving father-in-law to Janelle, & a doting Papa to his two grandchildren, Aria & Zac.
Wayne had a passion & great talent for the piano. He was a regular fixture for many years at the Seventh Day Adventist church in Red Deer as well as the accompanying pianist/organist for the CUC choir in Lacombe during his earlier years. He was an avid bowler & curler when he was younger & won many trophies. Late in life, he really enjoyed watching tennis & golf.
Wayne loved to take trips with his wife & then later his son. His many vacations included Hawaii, Disneyland, & Mexico.
Wayne was the founder & owner of Nature’s Nuggets health food store in Lacombe for many years & later the owner of Golden Sun Health Foods in Red Deer which is still running for over 25 years & now has a 2nd generation owner in his son, Tyler.
Wayne is survived by his older brother Dave (Toni), his younger brother Ray (Darlene), his son Tyler (Janelle), his grandchildren Aria & Zac, his many cousins as well as his close niece Michele, her two children Brandon (Lyndsay) & Brittany (Mike), and her grand-daughter, Ainsley-Jane.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful, caring, & attentive nurses & staff at the Lacombe Hospital for the 2 weeks that he was in their care.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the charity of their choice in Wayne’s honour.
