Mr. James ‘Jim’ Stewart of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the age of 79 years. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 8, 1945 to James and Nora Stewart. Jim joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1963 and served thirty-one years in the Canadian Armed Forces before retiring in 1994. During his time serving, he received a special service medal for Alert and Nato, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee and the Canadian Forces Decoration Double Clasp. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he served many roles during his lifetime. Jim was able to travel all around the world during his time in the Canadian Armed Forces and his retirement. He was a beloved and devoted husband for fifty-six years, a father, papa and great papa. “At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.” Jim will be lovingly remembered by his spouse Geraldine ‘Gerri’ Stewart, his son, David (Joanne) Stewart, their children, James and Josée, his son, Kenneth (Louise) Stewart, their children, Savannah E, Brooklin, Harley, Macaila, Savannah S, his great granddaughter, Olivia and his sister, Patricia Baker. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Nora Stewart, his sisters, Barbara and Beverly, his parents-in-law, George and Marion, his brother-in-law, Stan and his sister-in-law, Karen. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 104, 5108 49 Ave #1, Innisfail, Alberta T4G 1R1.
