Glen Roy Goetz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born on April 11, 1945, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, and his life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and service to others.
Glen’s life was entwined with Donna, formerly Donna Marie Beard, as they married December 17, 1970 and he demonstrated loyalty, trust, and service throughout the years of their marriage.
Glen was a father to eight wonderful children: Rebecca, who had preceded him in death, Dan and his wife Cajsa, Ben and his wife Jackie, Rachel and her husband Codie, Jacob and his wife Adrianne, Sariah and her husband Jon, Jared, and Elizabeth and her husband Justin. He poured his heart and soul into educating, guiding, and serving his children, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Glen was a proud resident of Glenwood, Alberta, a place where he built a life filled with continual labor and service. He had an exceptional gift for hard work, and his talents were far-reaching. Whether it was tinkering with cars, completing home repairs, or selflessly serving others, he was a true jack-of-all-trades but was always humble about his talents.
With a heart full of love and compassion, Glen was also a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served two missions, each with unwavering dedication. His first mission was a building mission which involved building chapels in New England, where his hands helped create places of worship and community. His second mission, a proselyting mission, took him to Texas, where he shared his faith and love for the gospel.
Glen’s quest for knowledge led him to Brigham Young University, where he was working towards a teaching degree in Automotive Technology. His passion for learning and sharing knowledge was evident to all who knew him. Additionally, he was a licensed masonry contractor, showcasing his expertise in yet another area as he helped build sheds, barns, various parts of homes, installed the roof on many buildings, and even took part in the renovations at the Cardston Temple.
Glen’s legacy extends beyond his immediate family. He was blessed with 38 grandchildren and 4 great grandkids, each of whom felt the warmth of his love and the twinkle of his kind eyes.
Glen Roy Goetz will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a faithful servant of his church, and a master of countless skills. He leaves behind a life filled with love, honesty, integrity, hard work, and dedication to the betterment of those around him. His memory will forever be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him well. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life he led, and the lessons of hard labor, love, and service he leaves behind.
