Obituary of June Mildred Manion (nee Cox)
June Manion passed away on August 12, 2024, at Hanna Long Term Care, with family at her side.
She was born on her parents’ homestead in the Jim Creek district, near North Star, AB, and attended high school in Peace River. She worked as a telephone operator in Regina before she trained as a registered nurse at the Calgary General Hospital. After nursing graduation, she married Arthur Manion of Hemaruka, AB. He was a driller and had a water truck on oil and gas rigs. They moved to various locations before they settled in Youngstown, AB, where they raised three children. June nursed at the Cereal Hospital and the Youngstown Home for many years.
She is survived by her children Charlene (Bill), Marilyn (Ken), and Grant (Evelyn); grandchildren Crystal (Gavin), Stephanie, Mark (Regina), and Craig (Megan); great-grandchildren Siena, Anders, Madden, Davis, and Kaysen; sisters-in-law June, Noreen (Richard) and Sheila, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her dear husband Arthur, her parents Frank and May, sisters Irene and Winifred, and brother Stanley.
A funeral service will be held at the Youngstown Gospel Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 in Youngstown, Alberta.
The family wishes to thank Dr. I. Mdawe, the staff at Hanna Lodge, Hanna Long Term Care, and special caregiver Teri Griffith for the exceptional care and love they provided for June.
