Obituary For Wayne Redlick
June 10, 1958 – February 19, 2024
It is with profound sorrow and heartbreak that the family of Wayne Redlick announce his passing at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on February 19, 2024 after his very long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Wayne was able to reach the beautiful age of 65 years.
For those who were connected to Wayne, they knew him for the kind, genuine and gentle soul he was. Wayne would do anything for anybody. You might get a word of advice before the task, but no matter what it was, he would help whether he knew you or not.
For Wayne though his true love and passion in life was his family. Wayne and Marg were soulmates and had been married and together for 48 years. Their love for each other was undeniable and could never be broken. His regular comment was, “Marg, I love you to Pluto and back.” He would always say that his most cherished accomplishments in life were his two children, Mikki, and Bryan. There are no words to describe his love for them. They were his world. Then came his grandchildren and even more joy and love were added to his life.
Wayne’s second love was his oilfield family. His dedication to the oil industry and the people in it was incredible. Over the 46 years that Wayne was in this business, he became known as the “Grand Daddy of the Oil Patch” by those that he mentored over the years. His dedication and loyalty to work was 24 hours a day, seldom taking time for himself. He wasn’t the type of individual who turned it on when he went to work and turned it off when he returned. His loyalty to the companies and people he worked with was beyond measure. He would ask the men he worked with on lease each day to text him when they got in from work because he cared that they all returned safely.
Wayne’s third love and where he found great solitude was travelling down the road in his motorhome and being on his boat in Penticton. He loved towing people behind the boat and one of his biggest pleasures was watching everyone jumping off the swim deck and having a great time.
Wayne will be forever loved and remembered by his soulmate, wife and best friend Marg Redlick; daughter Mikki Lawrance (“Waynette”), son-in-law Darcy and granddaughter Madison; son Bryan Redlick, daughter-in-law Jessica, and grandsons Austin, Reed, and Mack; brother Ken Redlick and sister-in-law Barb Redlick; sisters-in-law Judy, Val, Myrna and Doreen; brothers-in-law Brian, Jerry, Ed, and Jim; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
We do not know what tomorrow will bring, so make sure you live each day to its fullest.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 3rd, at 1:00 pm at the Pomeroy Hotel, 11633 – 100 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta.
