Obituary For Richard Joseph George Couturier
Richard Joseph George Couturier passed away quietly in his home in Slave Lake, AB, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, just shy of his 65th birthday.
Second born son to Marie and Georges Couturier in Jean Cote, AB. He was a welcome gift after the birth of four daughters. Richard quickly outgrew his sisters.
With a quick mind and adept hands, Richard quickly mastered many skills. He started working at the age of 14 years, first working alongside his mother Marie, in the beekeeping industry. He was also a part of the team that undertook the rebuilding of the Watino bridge in Watino, AB. After that he found himself moving houses for a while before becoming a tow truck operator in Dawson Creek, BC. Richard was quite mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything he got his hands on, however his passion was working with wood. His final means of employment was doing home renovations, first in Calgary, AB with his partner Andre, and then lastly in his home community of Slave Lake, AB. He was a skilled worker; no matter what he put his large working hands to he accomplished it. Anyone he worked with could not help but be his friend.
He had an immense love for the Peace country, and you could often find him sitting outside either on his deck or in his yard, during the evenings from early spring to late fall.
Richard was predeceased by his loving parents, Marie and Georges Couturier.
Richard is survived by his four daughters: Martina, Jeannette, Madelene and Jeannine; stepdaughters: Charman and Ashley; grandson Sheimys; siblings: Rosie Jane, Yvonne, Roseanne, Annette, Joyce, Eddie, Sue and Doris; as well as Target, his last companion.
