Obituary For Maureen Amanda Hoffart
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Maureen Amanda Hoffart, resident of Woking, AB, passed away with her family by her side after a tough battle with cancer on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 62 years.
Maureen was born on December 13, 1961, in Thunderbay, ON. At age of 9, the family packed up and moved west to Canoe, BC to look after a family hotel. One year later, they decided that Huallen, AB, was where they would set down roots. She graduated from Beaverlodge High School and shortly after began work as a phone operator for AGT. Maureen then worked with EMCO, supplying plumbing parts and advice. Maureen held multiple other jobs and volunteer roles, some of which include water plant operator, school bus driver, weed inspector, Rycroft Ag Society committee member, East West Woking 4-H Club leader; all while juggling a farm and four kids.
Maureen was compassionate, kind and hard not to love. She always had a smile on her face and saw the best in everyone. She was extremely hard working and would frequently start numerous projects at once. Her squirrel moments often got the best of her. You could always find Maureen in her woodworking shop, craft room, or garden. She loved to homestead and living off the land. Maureen was very independent and would attempt to do most things herself; even when a helping hand was likely necessary. She loved her husband, kids, family and friends with all her heart. The pitter patter of her grandchildren’s little feet made her truly light up.
She was survived by her adoring husband of 18 years, Don; as well as her loving children: Crystal (Brandon), Terry, April (Trenton), Tyler (Lindy). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chase, Jolee, Madelyn, Nora, Clara, Delilah, as well as many chosen family members. She will also be missed by her brothers: John (Sandy), Mike (Lita), Steve (Debbie), Shawn (Denise) and Darrell; and many nieces and nephews.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents John and Verna May Garland, as well as her younger sister, Heather.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Westmark Hall (Saddle Hills County, AB).
In lieu of gifts or flowers, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Red Cross.
