Obituary For Louis Kokosha
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis Kokosha, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of smith, AB. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 93 years.
Louis was born on the family farm near smith on May 29, 1931, to parents Rose and Tom Kokosha, and spent his life there until 2015 when he moved to Grande Prairie.
Louis had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisher and trapper, spending countless hours in the woods and on his trapline. His love for the wilderness was matched only by his enthusiasm for reading and watching westerns. Louis could often be found in his rocking chair with a classic western novel in hand or enjoying an old western film. He also had a great appreciation for good food and lots of it!
Louis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; step-sons: Clinton (Jasmine), and Kent (Shiela); four grandkids: Jack, Brittany, Davis and Colby; siblings: Edna Grotkowski, Mary Sandul, Nick Kokosha, Lydia Kokosha (Gary), and Ruth Elvestad; and brother-in-law Alfred Stephenson (Koleen).
He will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Louis was predeceased by his parents; in-laws; sister Irene Hewitt; and brothers and sister-in law: Adam Grotkowski, Fred Sandul, Rodney Elvestad and Brenda Kokosha.
As per Louis’ wishes no funeral will be held. He will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered in the places he loved.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
