Obituary For Layton Patterson
It is with heavy hearts, that we the family of Layton Patterson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Hythe, AB, announce his passing at the University of Alberta Hospital, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the age of 29 years.
Layton was born to Jack and Kathy Patterson in Grande Prairie on October 24, 1993.
Layton attended school in Hythe from grades 1-9 and high school in Beaverlodge, AB, graduating in 2011. He received his Business Finance Diploma with the Grande Prairie Regional College. The past few years Layton worked for Bonnett’s Energy Service and Control Tech, earning his 2-year apprentice ticket as an electrician and recently working for his uncle under Roach Contracting out of La Glace, AB.
In his earlier years, Layton had many interests, but few could top his love and passion for hockey. He proudly wore the sweaters of Hythe Minor Hockey, Beaverlodge Minor Hockey, and the Swanberg Bros Trucking Midget AA Storm team. As a young man, Layton helped out around the farm and started helping with auction sales. He continued working sales when he could and participated in charity auctions.
Layton would tell you his greatest joy and accomplishment in life was the birth of his son Rhett. They shared an incredible bond and love for each other.
Layton leaves behind his precious son Rhett; parents Jack and Kathy; sister Katie (Ty) White; niece Lydia; sister Stevie (Josh) Boettcher; niece and nephew Harley and Rennie; sister Jacey (Dalton) Campbell; niece and nephew Avidyn and Aspen; Rhett’s mom Kyrra MacDonald; grandmother Barbara Moe; aunts Katy, Remona, Connie Patterson, and Carol Rude; uncle and aunt Donny and Wendy Patterson; aunt and uncle Brenda Moe and Eric Roach; aunt and uncle Lori and Derek Riddle; many cousins; as well as numerous friends that he thought of as family.
Layton was predeceased by his grandparents Miller and Olivia Patterson; grandfather Stanley Moe; uncles: Harley, Art, and Leonard Patterson; uncle Jim and aunt and Agnes Patterson; uncle Jerry Rude; as well as cousins: Laurie Patterson, Cindy Weiss, Rikki MacAlister, and Kole Weiss.
Cremation has taken place.
The family asks that you join them in a Celebration of Life for Layton to be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:00pm, at Wembley Source Energy Recreation Centre (9831 97 St.).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patterson family for a trust that will be established for Layton’s son Rhett. Cheques can be made payable to Kaitlin White, or email transfer may be sent to rspatt9@gmail.com.
