Obituary For Joseph “Joe” Schulze
January 25, 1936 – February 17, 2024
Joe and Evelyn were married for 68 years and had three children. Joe’s pride and joy was his family and he had a heart of gold for each and every one of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe was born in Brownvale, AB on January 25, 1936 and passed away February 17, 2024, in Grande Prairie Alberta after having a stroke and after a short battle with cancer.
Joe grew up in Clairmont and moved to Grande Prairie at the age of 11; met the love of his life in a bowling alley in Grande Prairie and the rest is history.
Joe started his career at the age of 16 at Fee Brothers where he pursued his apprenticeship as a mechanic and attended school in Calgary. Joe then took a job at Loveseth Ltd where he worked for 25 years. Dad then purchased Shea Bros in 1979 and owned Peace Auto Electric with his business partner Reed Shea. Joe worked at Peace Auto Electric until he retired at the age of 55. Dad’s work then transitioned into the house rental business for several years.
Joe and Evelyn spent many winters in Yuma; driving south for 20 years. The start of every trip began with the jingle of his keys and included playing his favorite song “On the Road Again”. Travel was a big part of Dad and Moms life; special times with Dad and many trips were with his family camping and fishing.
Joe is survived by the love of his life; Evelyn, his 3 children; Judy (Lionel), Sherri (Rick), Terry (Debbie); 6 grandchildren; Tricia (Owen), Dustin (Shannon), Jesse (Keren), Steve (Nadine), April (Duncan) & Jen; 14 great grandchildren; Ethan (Baily), Kendall Joy, Kristen, Kaylin, Marley, Atlas, Behati, Rylan, Jordis, Kennedy, Caiden, Jace, Taylor, Finn and Adair; along with his sister Margaret Tarnowski, brother Albert (Kerren) Schulze and brother-in-law Harry (Doreen) Sykes.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lehkwani & Dr. Sereda, nurses and staff in Unit 23 for their compassion and care while taking care of Dad.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Grande Prairie Cancer Clinic.
