Obituary For Fay Mary (Boe) Gendron
July 30, 1943 – June 30, 2024
We are saddened to announce the passing of Fay Gendron. Fay passed away suddenly at home, after a lengthy illness at the age of 80.
Fay was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Fay attended St. Joseph’s School from grade 1 to grade 12 and was an active member of her community where she made many friends. Fay started her telecommunications career with A.G.T. (Telus) in Grande Prairie, with postings in Kelowna and finally Edson – where she retired from the Telephone company. Fay returned to Grande Prairie in 1977 and remained there until her passing.
After AGT, Fay enjoyed a second career in cooking. She had several jobs at different companies, but she especially enjoyed working with Betty Foster at Royal Camps on oil rig camp sites, and loved working for the Major family at the Prairie Haven where she was affectionately known as Fi Fi. She made many strong lasting bonds.
Fay is survived by her daughter Michele, granddaughters Megan and Kati Parkinson, four great grandchildren- Kalen and Kiarra (who Fay raised for 14 years), and Murphy and Malcolm who live in Red Deer. Fay is also survived by her sisters Joan Smith, Jean (Gordon) Rawlyk, and Patty Swenson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Fay was predeceased by her son Robert “Bobby” Gendron, her 2 husbands Reg Gendron, and James “Jim” Davidson. She was also predeceased by her mother and stepfather Ruth and Gordon Ritchie, and her father George Boe.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. More details to follow.
Fay was always ready to hear a good joke – here is one she would like…
“Fay was here
And now she’s gone
She left a chore list
That needs to get done”.
