Obituary For Conley Trueman Fredland
October 11, 1935 – September 8, 2024
Conley Trueman Fredland passed away peacefully on the morning of September 8, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 88.
He was born in smith, Alberta to John & Julia Fredland and lived at the family farm in La Glace, Alberta. He attended school in Montreal at the Mackay School for the Deaf, travelling across the country each school year on the train with his lifelong friend, Emil Stredulinsky, from smith to Montreal taking 4 days.
As a young man he helped his dad on the farm each summer before moving to Edmonton. He worked at a carpentry shop then later at Queen’s Printer for over 35 years. While there he earned his journeyman certificate of Printing & Graphic Arts, retiring in 1991. There he met and married Leila and they raised two sons, Bob & Kevin.
He grew up loving horses and big hitch teams. He loved to attend chuckwagon races and would travel to Grande Prairie to watch the thoroughbred and pony chuckwagons. He also attended the Ponoka Stampede on several occasions.
He played hockey at school and with the Hythe Mustangs and loved his favorite team, the Edmonton Oilers. He was an active volunteer with the Edmonton Association of the Deaf and recognized by the province in 2009 for 50 years of service.
As per Conley’s request there will be no Celebration of Life and internment will take place with family at a later date.
