Obituary For Beverley Clair Kelly
May 18, 1943 – June 19, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we mournfully announce the passing of Beverley Clair Kelly, at the age of 81 in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Beverley (Bev) was born to Mary and Clair Kelly in Lamont, Alberta on May 18, 1943. The family settled and raised Bev in Partridge Hill, Alberta. He attended Fort Saskatchewan High School where he was an avid basketball player. He also spent much of his time with his award-winning Irish Setters Erin and Deedee who he trained and showed with the Northern Alberta Kennel Association.
Bev met the love of his life Geraldine Ann Thorson, and they married in February of 1966. They had 3 children together- Angela, Tracey and Jason. Bev moved the family to a homestead north of Debolt in August of 1972 where he became a passionate farmer. Bev was a man of many hats, and worked as a journeyman millwright, a journeyman welder and farmed for next 40 years.
Bev was an active member of the Puskwaskau Community and remained busy with the community until retiring from farming in 2012. After his retirement, Bev moved into Grande Prairie but kept himself busy. He could often be found at the nearest auction sale, camping at Sturgeon Lake with his family, “gardening”, or visiting with his close friends from Debolt. Bev will forever be remembered as the “original up-cycler”, as he was always making something out of nothing and could fix anything.
Bev was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and will be remembered by his loving wife of 58 years, Geraldine Ann, his children Angela (Dale) Stark, Tracey Kelly and Jason (Cynthia) Kelly, his grandchildren Alise (Kyle) Warkentin, Kaylyn (Aaron) Franklin, Jordan (Gage) Fitchett, Olivia Kelly, Erica Stark, Daman Kelly and Sydney Jansen, as well as 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Barbara (Ed) Hostyn, Robert (Bonnie) Kelly, Gary Kelly and Maureen (Brad) Kelly, his uncle Walter (Lynda) Osbaldeston and many more loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Bev was pre-deceased by parents Mary Roberta Eston (née Osbaldeston) and Clair Lawernce Kelly, brother-in-law Ron Hostyn, nephew Derek Hostyn, and in-laws Jim and Kathleen Thorson.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation in Bev’s honour and memory.
