Obituary For Alice Rose Palser
May 11th, 1940 – Dec 26th, 2023
There are people in our lives who endlessly give us their time and energy, model a solid marriage, work hard, volunteer in their community, love our children, love life, and love us unconditionally.
This was “Miss” Alice. It is with joy in our memories and grief in our loss that we announce her death in Grande Prairie on Boxing Day 2023. She deeply missed Mr. David (Palser, M:1973) since his death in 2017, but no more.
Miss Alice was the daughter of Otto and Emma Gitzel, and she was pre-deceased by siblings Walter and Donald Gitzel, Florence Givens and Loreen Goebel. She is survived by daughters Chalsi Goetz (Steven-Steaphie, Ryan); Step-Daughter-In-Law Gail Jones (Ken deceased); Step Grandson Marc Jones (Christa-Brayden and Kaylee); Step Grand daughter Kim Jones (great grand-daughter Lexi). A special thanks to David Givens who was always there to care for his Aunt Alice. Miss Alice will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and friends: Jeannine Becker, Bonnie and Brian LaBadie, and Debbie and Bill Judt.
Many will remember Miss Alice in her fabric shop: The Four Seasons where Mr. David helped her with sewing machine sales and repairs. She had tables at the Valleyview Farmers Market where she sold fresh baking and preserves, placemats, aprons, oven mitts and seasonal items. Perhaps you remember her from the Downtown Association, Birthday Quilting Club, or you saw her and Mr. David at antique auctions. Maybe you served with her on the Debolt Agricultural Society or purchased bedding plants from her. Were you able to share a delicious meal around their table listening to Enrico Caruso, drinking wine, and having a really good Scotch? Did you have the pleasure of walking through her huge garden and flower beds on the Gitzel family farm in Debolt? She and Mr. David lived there until 2011, when after a short stay in Debolt they move to Grande Prairie. So many memories, so many laughs, and so much love.
We give thanks for Miss Alice’s life, for the time we knew and were loved by her. Please remember her loved ones in your hearts and prayers and when you think of her, smile and laugh at a memory of her and Mr. David. If you have been blessed with one of her quilts, snuggle up in it, as it represents her love for you, surrounding you.
A “Memorial Come and Go” with the spreading of Mr. David’s and Miss Alice’s ashes on the Smoky River banks will be held this summer at the LaBadie acreage. To be notified of this event please send your information to djudt@me.com.
Memorial Donations in “Tribute” to Alice Rose Palser may be made to Stars Ambulance. The donation link will be underneath Alice’s photo.
May the Lord Bless and keep you, Miss Alice.
