It is with heavy hearts that the family of William (Billy-Joe) Takaro announce his passing. A beloved father, Mushum, brother, uncle and friend. Born on June 25, 1947, in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, Billy-Joe’s journey through life touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Billy-Joe’s greatest source of joy and purpose was his family, which he loved with an unparalleled devotion. His compassionate heart knew no bounds, and he gave the world through his untiring love and care. Billy-Joe cherished spending time sitting around laughing and joking with his family. He had a remarkable ability to make you feel safe and accepted, a rare gift that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
His presence was like a beacon of light, brightening any room he entered. With an abundance of charm and charisma, he had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He was a mentor and coach, leaving a positive impact on those he guided.
Billy-Joe was a true adventurer at heart, a risk-taker who found solace in the great outdoors. He was an avid trapper and a passionate hunter, finding comfort in the wilderness and teaching others to appreciate its beauty.
As an entrepreneur, Billy-Joe blazed a trail by starting the first aboriginal business on Syncrude site, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. His dedication and hard work led to a fulfilling career, and he retired as the General Manger of Tuc’s Contracting.
In a world that often seems complicated, Billy-Joe found joy in the simple things, with family and friends at the center of his universe. He was a problem solver; someone you could always count on in times of need. His caring nature, boundless love, and a great sense of humor brought laughter and warmth to countless lives.
Billy-Joe is survived by his sons: Richard (Kim) Takaro and Joshua Nelson; daughter: Lisa (Chris) Golosky; sister: Patsy (Gilbert) Tuccaro; his five grandchildren: Nitanis, Billie, Riel, Cole and Skylar, who were the light of his life; one great-grandchild: Anika, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and countless cousins who will all miss him dearly.
