It is with deep sorrow and great love that we mourn the passing of Wanda Linda Papa, who passed away on July 10, 2024.
Wanda was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, whose spirit left this earth with her daughter by her side, holding her hand.
Wanda was born in Woodstock, Ontario, with one brother, Richard, and one sister, Theresa. She later moved to Toronto, where she loved dressing up and going to horse races. Toronto is also where she gave birth to her only daughter, Aleigha. Wanda and Aleigha cherished their time together, especially as they both grew older. One of their favorite pastimes was enjoying each other’s company while watching movies like The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, and many more. They continued this tradition even more later in life, when Aleigha moved to Edmonton to be closer to Wanda when she became ill.
Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Aleigha Papa; her nephew, Chris Uglanica; and her cousin, Elisabeth Remington, along with Elisabeth’s children: Kristian, Chelsea, Cat, and Courtney.
She was predeceased by her mother, Tekla Zakrzewski; her father, Michael Zakrzewski; her sister, Theresa Uglanica; and her brother, Richard Zakrzewski.
There will be an intimate service with Aleigha and her mother at the funeral home during the cremation. In the following week, Aleigha will host a virtual Celebration of Life with all of Wanda’s family who live outside of the city.
