On October 6, 2023, Tim Der of St. Albert passed away following a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was 49 years old.
Tim will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 22 years Sandra; his children Brielle and Carsen; mother Susan; siblings James (Pearl), Shirley, and Lily Wong; in-laws Jack and Stella Rafuse; and sister-in-law Andrea Vandervaate (Alan). Tim will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his father Dick.
Tim resided in the city of St. Albert for the last 18 years; a city he quickly fell in love with near the Sturgeon Valley Golf Course. Golfing a ‘quick’ 18 holes before rushing home to his family for supper, or a family event, was not out of the ordinary for Tim. After his family, golf was his greatest passion. Tim was a successful business owner until 2022 when he decided to sell his company and spend more time doing the things he loved. He was a visionary. He was creative, hard-working, and you could always count on him for anything you needed. He was always the guy who literally “knew a guy.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on October 21, 2023, at St. Albert Inn (Ballroom), #156 St. Albert Trail, St. Albert, Alberta Canada T8N 0P5. A private ash burial will be held at a later date for our family.
