Sister Mary Consolata passed away peacefully with family by her side at Providence Center, in Edmonton Alberta on August 12th, 2024, at the age of 93.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, in November of 1930, to Anthony (Tony) and Katherine (Katie) Spotowski. She was a sister to Frank Spotowski (who predeceased her), and to Pauline (Polly) Goretzki, Helen Haffie, and Allan (Joe) Spotowski. She was also fondly known as Aunty Jenny to many nieces and nephews.
In answer to God’s call, she entered the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood in May of 1948, and entered the quiet world of prayer, study, commitment and sacrifice. She also considered her monastery and religious community her close friends & family. She was devoted to her active service in the catholic community and prayer for others. She shared her talent of sewing by creating many seminary vestments & special robes for priests and bishops, and worked many years to supply the communion breads to Edmonton, and surrounding area churches.
When the monastery closed in 2012 the Sisters of Providence Center welcomed her into their community and she enjoyed many new friendships and happy years as a member of that family as well.
She was interested in the world around her, learning new things, keeping up to date with current events, and especially interested in the lives & happiness of others. She Always said, “God will provide” or “I will put it in God’s hands”, and always prayed for the needs of others.
We wish to thank all the kind and loving caregivers at Providence Center, and the Sisters of the Precious Blood who remained close in prayer.
All services will be held at the chapel at Providence Center, 3005-119 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta. A Prayer Vigil will be held 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 19th, 2024, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, with interment to follow at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery.
