It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Karl Haasz of Sturgeon County on December 17, 2023 at the age of 22 years old.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, DeAnne Lirondelle; brother, Nick Haasz (Avery); grandparents: Lawrence and Evelyn Lirondelle and Norma Haasz of BC; uncles: Lawrence Lirondelle Jr, and Gord Haasz of BC; numerous cousins, relatives, and friends; and by the best cat Willy.
He was predeceased by his father, Glen Haasz; and grandfather, Ernest Haasz.
Karl was born December 17, 2001, and grew up in the farming community of Mearns, Alberta. He attended school at Camilla and Sturgeon Composite High. He was a bright, amicable, determined, quiet, and strong boy. He had an artist’s touch and loved drawing and making things. He would research things and then make them. He loved hammering out knives and making presents by hand. He loved downhill skiing, snowmobiling, the water, whether it was on it or fishing in it. Karl and Nick both played high school football with coach Chad, who instilled teamwork and camaraderie for them. Karl went onto college to complete a horticulturist degree. He was a man that beat to his own drum, did things his way. He and his cousin Mac were close and would hang out together lots. He loved going to Shuswap Lake with his dad, hanging out with Rob and his family. His uncle Lawrence would take all the boys skiing in whitefish or to the lake cabin all the time. Grandpa Lawrence would get them to help around the farm. DeAnne loved and adored her boys immensely. She and Glen instilled in them everything that was right: compassion, strength, courtesy, integrity, work ethics, helpfulness, and politeness. They provided a loving, caring home with lots of laughter and love for the boys. Karl was liked and respected by all his friends. He was a very diligent worker, giving his all to the tasks at hand. His passing is going to leave many voids in this world and will be so very missed by many.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Albert Inn Ballroom, with visitation 1 hour prior to his service.
Arrangements entrusted to Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home.
