Esther Orji Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden loss of our beloved sister, Esther Wairimu Orji, Born to parents Mary Wairimu Kimurwa (Deceased) and Stephen Kimurwa Mwandani.
Esther was the 4th born and eldest Daughter of 6 siblings, Peter Kimurwa Mwandani (1st Born), Charles Ndegwa Kimurwa (2nd), Joseph Gichuki Kimurwa(3rd), Lilian Wambui Kimurwa (5th), and Emily Njoki Kimurwa (last born). She was born and raised in Dandora, the Eastlands of Nairobi, the Capital of Kenya where she attended primary school in Kariobangi South Primary School and went on to Ruchu Girl’s High School and Buruburu High School until completion of her high school education.
She pursued further education and specialized in Hairdressing at Pivot Point Kenya. She later moved abroad after completion of her studies in pursuit of greener pastures and settled in Toronto, Canada where she met her husband (ex) Frank Orji, and were later married on October 3rd, 2004. They were blessed with four children, Christian Nnanna Orji (son), Mary Wairimu Orji (daughter), Queen Chioma Orji (daughter), and her youngest Ngosi Wambui Orji (daughter). They later moved to Edmonton, Alberta for a few years and eventually settled in Calgary, Alberta.
Esther’s struggle with her health began around July 2024, and she progressively fell more ill until October when she was rushed to Emergency at South Health Campus. She was taken in and admitted for further treatment. After multiple scans and tests, the doctors discovered that she had metastatic cancer (Adenocarcenoma), and was scheduled to see an oncologist urgently for further treatment. She was discharged on October 29, 2024, to facilitate her immediate consultation with Oncology. Her situation worsened and was rushed back to Emergency on October 31, 2024, where the doctors declared her terminally ill. She was taken to the Rapid Action Unit, where she received End of Life care until her passing, on November 3, 2024, at 3:29 pm.
She was survived by her nieces Brenda Wambui(Calgary), Mary Wairimu Gichuki (Calgary), Mary Wairimu Wambui (Kenya), Imani Stephen Kimurwa (United Kingdom), Lee Kimurwa Mwandani (Kenya) and Susan Wairimu Kimurwa (United Kingdom). More information is to come as the family continues to prepare for her send-off and allow for extended family to travel in for her funeral.
