Sandra Hamilton Obituary
Sandra Hamilton Obituary
Sandra Leah Hamilton (Scott) passed away of natural causes in her home in Three Hills, Alberta on Saturday, October 19, 2024. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Hamilton and her three precious grandsons, Curtis, Carson and Peyton; brother Brian (Janet) of Sherwood Park, AB, sister Sheila (Allan) Janke of Weyburn, SK. She also leaves to mourn many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Betty Kirk. Sandra was predeceased by her husband Angus and her parents Elon & Edith Scott. Sandra Leah Scott was born August 12, 1947 in Midale, SK, the oldest of three children. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Goodwater, SK., until she graduated from Grade 12 in June, 1965. Life on the farm was interesting. Living three miles from town meant riding the school bus every day, but also made taking part in community activities easy. Sandra attended church activities, CGIT, was a member of the church choir, played baseball, figure skated and curled. In 1965 the family moved to Weyburn, SK. and in the fall of 1965, Sandra attended the University of Regina where she obtained her teaching certificate. In 1967 Sandra married Angus Hamilton. They moved to Three Hills, AB where Gus was employed with Winter’s Funeral Home. Sandra returned to school while still teaching, and in 1978 she received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. Sandra and Gus were involved with the Kinsmen and Kinettes for many years. They enjoyed the parties and social life and made many lifetime friends. Sandra was a member of Knox United Church in Three Hills, was on the church board and taught Sunday School. Sandra’s teaching career spanned 35 years-two years in “The Old Country” (Saskatchewan) and 33 years in the Three Hills School where she taught Junior High and Elementary classes. In 2002, Sandra retired from teaching. Retirement presented time for pleasurable pursuits: flower arranging, earning a Botany Certificate and working at the Three Hills Flower Shop; watercolor painting, producing beautiful landscapes and flower paintings; travelling with friends to New York, Boston, New Orleans, and on St. Lawrence and Mediterranean Cruises. She also spent many hours over coffee and tea with her numerous friends. Sandra is sorely missed by all that knew and loved her. Many tears have been, and will be shed for our “Lovely Sandra”
