Sandy Obituary
Alexandria LaChance
November 14, 1936 – January 22, 2024
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Alexandria LaChance, affectionately known as Sandy, on Monday, January 22, 2024 in Drayton Valley. Sandy was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with her kind and caring nature. She had a unique ability to find the silver lining in everyone she encountered and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Sandy’s legacy will forever live on in the lives of her children, Delores (Larry), Caroline, Lenard (Toni), Tammy, and Raymond (Mona); her 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Vera (Bob) and Zenovia; and a very large extended family. Alexandria LaChance will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire and guide the lives she impacted.
Sandy is predeceased by her sons, Dale and Ralph; daughter, Sharon; grandson, Troy; great-granddaughter, Page; siblings, John, Carl, Zeneviev (Hoppy), and Alexander, and her parents, Katherine and Michael Mankow.
Sandy’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. When she cooked supper for her own family there was always room for another plate at the table for friends. She loved her large family and played a vital role in keeping everyone together. Her orderly house served as a sanctuary, keeping chaos at bay and providing a sense of peace for all who entered.
Sandy had a talent for making something out of nothing. Nothing went to waste as Sandy would find a use for everything. She taught her family the values of respect, manners, and hard work, instilling in them a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed. Sandy was a good steward of her children, as reflected in how each morning, she would prepare individual breakfasts for her children, ensuring they felt loved, and were prepared for the day.
Music held a special place in Sandy’s heart, and the sound of her guitar filled the house, along with the melodies of old country music and gospel. In her free time, she enjoyed various hobbies such as sewing, puzzles, gardening, cribbage, backgammon, word search, and watching game shows.
Sandy’s family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Long-Term Care Unit at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for their compassionate care and support shown to Sandy during her time there.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Sandy’s name made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
