Edith Dorothy Curran Obituary
Edith Dorothy Curran
February 11, 1946 – April 08, 2024
It is with saddened hearts but a spirit of celebrating a life so well lived, that the family of Edith Curran announce her passing on April 8, 2024.
Edith leaves a legacy of an incredible work ethic, a spirit for life long learning and a stubborn determination to always persevere regardless of life’s circumstances. These traits will continue to inspire her children, Darren, Shelly and Johnathan and her nine grandchildren. Edith will also be cherished and remembered by her siblings, John (Geri) Turner, Kathleen Beale, Linda (Ken) Michealchuk, Henry (Jan) Turner, Chandler (Kathy) Turner, Susan (Meryln) Woytowich, Debby (Paul) Schwengler and John Turner Jr., along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Edith was predeceased by her parents, Ivor and Elizabeth Turner; her sister Gwen, a grandchild and her grandparents.
Edith was a devoted worker who excelled for many years in Food Services, which included building and operating the original Cynthia Hotel. In later years, the addition of the Post Office in Cynthia was also built. With unfettered determination and a heart to serve others, at the age of 50, Edith returned to school and completed her LPN training. She was a loyal staff member at Serenity House in Drayton Valley for many years – up to her retirement at the age of 74. In her spare time, Edith could be found doing various renovation and construction projects, including Dry-walling and whatever else needed to be done.
Edith also had a great passion for camping, her chickens (the fancier the better) and her dog “White-Socks”. But her greatest love was to her family, who are the greatest works of her hands and heart.
A celebration of Edith’s life will take place at Ponderosa City, Township Road 454, Alder Flats, Alberta, at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ponderosa City, in keeping with Edith’s love for the work and ministry that takes place there.
