Maxwell Smith of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 92 years.
Max was born on July 3, 1932, to parents Maxwell and Margaret Smith. His family was well-known in the Thoroughbred horse industry. He married Kay (nee Hunt) in 1955 and spent the rest of his life ranching and raising Hereford cattle. He was a hardworking and generous man.
His family was very important to him, and he had great fondness for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Kay, his daughter Debbie (Barry) Scott, daughter-in-law Debi Smith, two sisters, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Max was predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister, and his son Ken.
The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of Unit 600, at Bethany Cochrane for their unwavering love and care for the family. A special thank you also to Shannon Lappin for everything she has done to help through this journey.
A Private Family Service will be held.
