Obituary of John Joe Sahaluk

John Sahaluk, the beloved husband of Catherine “Cathy” Ann Sahaluk (nee Bush) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the age of 71 years.
John was born in Calgary, AB, on March 8, 1953. John completed a diploma in Television, Radio, and Stage Arts from SAIT in 1976, worked for CFCN for a short while, and later found a career with Brewers Distributors Ltd. until his retirement in 2017.
He was a member of the IOF golf group that played every week at Shaganappi golf course, where he enjoyed many jests about his bold golf attire and never hesitated to share his thoughts on their game. In retirement, John discovered a new interest in being an extra in various films in and around the city.
John and Cathy married on March 19, 1983. John was particularly proud of his three children, Trinity, Peter, and Daniel. He especially found his inner child and joy when he vacationed with his family at Disneyland, even though he wore a Grumpy Dwarf hat and enjoyed bantering with Cruella de Vil. John will be most remembered for his love of music and treats, his wit, his helping his neighbours, his “grumpiness,” and his great mustache!
Besides his loving wife, John is survived by his daughter Trinity Ayres (Garth, Grace, and Eliza) of Calgary, son Peter Sahaluk (Heidi, Duck, and Cool Beans) of Calgary, son Daniel Sahaluk of Calgary and his constant companion Charlie. John is also survived by his older sister Mary (Michelle, Colin, Seth, and Kayla) of Edmonton, AB, and (Melanie and Jim) of Priddis. John was predeceased by his parents Peter, and Olga Sahaluk.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
