Obituary of Ernst Franz Koenighofer

April 8, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Ernst (Ernie) Koenighofer of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 90 years.
Ernie was born in Hirschwang, Austria, on October 4, 1933, and immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1956, where he lived and worked as a Carpenter. He met Marie and they were married on September 6, 1961, and were happily married for 59 years, before Marie’s passing on February 9, 2021.
Ernie was very active in life. He had many interests over the years, which included traveling, making furniture, curling, golfing, hunting, fishing, and fixing cars and bikes. He also enjoyed looking for treasures at garage sales.
Ernie is survived by his one daughter Lyla Gushulak of Calgary, AB, two grandsons, Justin and Cody Gushulak; nephew Walter Könighofer and his wife Edna, and many other relatives, friends, and neighbours.
Ernie was the center and strength of our family. We will miss him dearly every day.
An Inurnment Service will be held at Queen’s Park Mausoleum in Calgary in the fall of 2024.
