Agnus (Angie) Bachmier was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on February 8, 1952, to her parents Joseph and Regina (Folk) Bachmier. She grew up the youngest of 12 of 14 surviving siblings on a nearby farm.
As a young adult she moved to Calgary Alberta where she met her husband, George Heck. They were married in Fox Valley Alberta on February 26, 1972. After being married they began their lives together and welcomed their first child Jason in August 1972 and shortly after Justin joined the family in April 1975. Angie always had a strong work ethic and encouraged her children to do the same. Angie was a strong advocate for the support and education for her son Justin and encouraging her son Jason to play sports and have a part time job as a paper boy. This support and guidance continue throughout their lives.
Angie always cared for the special needs community and throughout her life worked and several care facilities and group homes. Angie returned to Medicine Hat in the summer of 2005 and continued to work a supported group home. Angie loved family, friends, and cooking. Angie was always ready to host a family and friends gathering. One of Angie’s greatest joys was her grandchildren Kyara and Kali. She took such great joy going to the Medicine Stampede and spending time with them in Calgary. Angie could not be prouder of her granddaughter’s love of dance and soccer. Angie cared for all of her extended family, specifically her nieces, nephews, and daughter in-law. Everyone was like one of her children whom she loved so much.
Angie is survived by her sons Jason (Robin) and Justin Heck, her grandchildren Kyara and Kali Heck, and her siblings Bert (Ethel), Leo (Irene), Mike (Shirly), and Joe (Lorraine). She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Regina Bachmier and siblings Margaret (Joe), Catherine (Reginald), Rose (Tony), John (Kay), Phillip (Elda), Wendell (Jean) and Anne (Val).
Angie will always be remembered for her perseverance, kindness, hospitality and generosity. We will forever cherish the impact she has had on some many others and the beautiful memories.
