Obituary of Bill Webb
LINACY – William Joseph “Bill” Webb, 85, Linacy, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, February 4, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Israel Leroy and Hazel Bertha (Eagles) Webb. In his late teens, Bill enlisted in the Canadian Army, serving with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in Germany for two years. Following, Bill worked in the McBain Mine, Thorburn and then was employed as a Stationary Engineer with the former Trenton Works until retirement in 1992. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, playing his guitar and banjo, and listening to Blue Grass Music. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by those he loved.
Surviving are his children, Billy (Edna), Debbie (Alan), Donna (Steve), Bobby (Nancy), Juanita (Karleen), Susan (Billy); 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; siblings, Joy (Alex), Juanita, Hazel, Ray (Nancy), Gary (Margie); brother-in-law, Alvin “Buster”; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Emily Elizabeth “Em” (Nicholls) Webb; sister, June; brothers, Floyd and Bob; sisters-in-law, Doreen and Jessie; brothers-in-law, Bill and Buddy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 7 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home New Glasgow from where Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Bill’s memory to any charity of choice.
Special thanks to Dr. Anne Kwasnick-Krawczyk and nurses, Debbie Williams and Joan Timmons of the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit, VON for their support and kindness, and the EMTs who made Bill’s stay at home possible and more comfortable.
