On February 10, 2023, Barry Delbert Boychuk decided it was time to work in the gardens of heaven. He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Laurel Kosman and Carolyn Jaye Langdon, his son in law Peter Kosman, his 4 granddaughters, Megan Baillie(Kevin), Stephanie Jones (Robert), Kaitlyn Donaldson (Klay),Tori Langdon, as well as his 3 great grandchildren Elsie, PJ and Kooper. Barry will also be missed by his half sister Ilona Osborne, his special friend Mary Dagg, and the many cousins and friends he regularly connected with. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Johnny Boychuk, his sister Elizabeth Stuart, his half brother Paul Strasko and cousin Don Cox.
Barry was born in Winnipeg August 8, 1935. He grew up on the farm three miles west of Ste Agathe, Manitoba. He enjoyed a variety of sports through the years but curling was his favourite! Over the years he curled in many bonspiels both at home and in the States. Two special clubs were the 2 sheet rink in Domain, Manitoba and later the Wildwood Club. He passed on his love for the game to his 2 girls. As a matter of fact, just before his passing his son-in law was sending him every link to the Manitoba womens’ games so he could watch them on his iPad. He enjoyed attending football games of the children that Kevin was coaching! He watched all the Jets games on TV. If he wasn’t watching sports he would binge watch The Big Bang Theory over and over!
After retiring from the farm in 1979, Dad could always be found dabbling in this and that, even owning a restaurant in Transcona for a while. One of his favourite pastimes was driving friends and family anywhere they needed to go which he did right up until the few weeks before his passing.
Lots of his time was spent at the Eagles Club in St.Norbert, playing pool almost daily or enjoying a Ducks Unlimited dinner! Speaking of dinners, he could always be found at the many small town fall suppers around Winnipeg.
Growing up a grain farmer dad never lost his love for the land and in his retirement enjoyed his garden at the St Norbert Garden plots with Jaye. Last year in his move to Fort Garry Villa he acquired a second garden plot there which fed us all!!
Pop Pop loved to FaceTime his three great-grandchildren any chance he could as they all live far away. He couldn’t believe how fast they were growing each time he saw them.
Dad loved to travel and always encouraged us to do the same. There were many trips to world curling events in Canada and Europe, travel in the States and many trips to the west coast to see friends and relatives. He was hoping for one last trip to Mexico with friends but unfortunately it was not to be. Closer to home, Barry loved his time fishing in Lac Du Bonnet.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Brian Sharkey (also a good friend of Barry’s) and the nursing staff on the fourth floor of the Victoria Hospital for the care and support they demonstrated! Thanks also to David and the staff at Fort Garry Rotary Villa for embracing Barry in the short time he spent with you!! He was so looking forward to the outings that he was part of planning and we are so glad that the residents will enjoy the fruits of his labour!
A donation in Barry’s honour can be made to the

As per Barry’s wishes there will be no celebration of life. A small family gathering to honour his life will be held at a later date.
