Barbara Jean Hutchison, age 84 of Burlington, ON, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023. Born in Lachine, QC on Jan 10, 1939, daughter of Ruth & Jim Cochrane. Barb grew up in Valois, QC with her brother Bob and her late sister Ann Bonnell. She married Allen Hutchison on June 23, 1962. They lived in Montreal and Cleveland, OH before moving to Pointe Claire, QC where they raised their children Richard & Linda. They enjoyed many years of camping as a family. Barb was a very active member of St John’s United Church, the Welcome & Fellowship and the UCW. Barb was a Brownie leader for more than 20 years, as well as the District Girl Guide Commissioner. Barb & Al enjoyed cycling and cross country skiing with the Beaconsfield Cycling club. They continued both activities when they moved to Burlington, ON in 1980. Barb enjoyed leading events with the Halton Outdoor Club and spent several years on the executive. Barb also co-ordinated many groups with the Burlington Newcomers Club and Alumni. Barb was proud to hike the entire 900km Bruce Trail with Al and their End-to-End friends. Barb loved children, babysitting many kids over the years. She was especially proud of her grandson Sean and her great grandchildren John & Amelia. As a senior Barb enjoyed travelling and geo-caching. Together with Al they found almost 30,000 caches in 7 countries.
Barb will be dearly missed by her husband Al, children Richard (& Paula), and Linda (& Pierre-Paul), her brother Bob (Calgary), grandson Sean (& Laura), as well as her great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bruce Trail Association.
