Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a kind, dear and gentle man, Aubrey Joseph Yetman, of St. Mary’s, at 75 years of age. Aubrey was partner to Marjorie for 14 years, a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
On February 5, 2023, Aubrey passed away peacefully following a brief illness, at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s. He is predeceased by his parents Augustine & Anastasia Yetman, brother Raymond; sisters: Monica Yetman, Augusta Whelan and Mary St. Croix; brothers-in-law: Bill Hynes, Fred Whelan and Phil O’Connell, niece Janet O’Connell, nephew John Allen St. Croix and all other members of the Yetman Families. Also predeceased by Marjorie’s parents Vince & Uriel Corcoran.
Aubrey leaves to mourn his loving and devoted companion Marjorie, son Bradley (Karen) and their children Abby and Kenny; daughters: Carla (Brendan) Parfrey and their children Ben and Fiona; and Laura Burt; his brothers: Harry (Margie), Gordon (Patsy) and Tom and sisters: Barbara (Tom), Bertha and Jacinta.
Coming from a large family, Aubrey leaves behind to mourn many nieces, nephews and cousins. Having a close bond with Aubrey, both Janet and Sarah (Marjorie’s daughters) and their children: Lily, Violet and Mason will dearly miss him. Aubrey had a huge circle of friends far and wide, many close friends and none more closer than his lifelong friends Randy and Ralph. He has left a large void in many lives.
Aubrey’s work life as a sheet metal worker brought him across the country – from coast to coast, whereby he worked hard and provided for his family. During this time he enjoyed fishing, golfing and the outdoor life with his buddies. His retirement to his hometown of St. Mary’s, brought him everyday pleasure, having the leisure to follow his sports teams, most especially the Montreal Canadiens. As well, he became an avid crossword solver. He loved bird watching and kept them well fed outside his window. Most of all Aubrey loved socializing and spending time with his friends.
A special thank you is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Science Centre Emergency Department and to Gibbons’ Ambulance and Funeral Service for their care and support. Also to Bill Breen for his help and officiating the graveside service, the ladies for preparing the meal at the Community Hall and anyone else who contributed in any way to comfort us during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12:00, at St. Mary’s (New Cemetery), followed by a reception at St. Mary’s Community Hall.
