Arthur Delaney
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur Joseph Delaney on February 16, 2023, at the age of 79 years after a lengthy battle of health complications. Arthur was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia on January 17, 1944. He is predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Arthur Delaney as well as his sister Celia Fairn ( Jim). Left to mourn from his East coast family are his sister Rhodora Doughty (Art), his two children; Adrieene and Chad. Art carried the East Coast accent and charm with him all his life.
Survived by his life partner, best friend and wife of 27 years, Caroline Sylvester whom he loved like no other and always called her Honey.
Art loved his children dearly; he always shared his fabulous stories of his younger days. He was a special kind of father. He earned his title. It wasn’t just given to him, he chose to love them through loyalty, actions and time. He was the “dad” he knew they needed. A tremendous loss will be felt from the twins Christopher Potvin (Maire) who he always called “his buddy”. Jessica White (Bradley) who he affectionately called his “Smurphy “. Amanda Potvin who he nicknamed “Amanda panda” all from Timmins, Melissa Schaettgan ( Elmar) of Ottawa. He will also be missed by numerous nephews and nieces.
Art was a gentle giant of a man who was blessed with a huge heart full of love. That love was shared with everyone, but most of all, his grandkids. He was given the name “Papa bear” and he held that name with so much pride. His loss will be felt by Brittney, RJ, Bradley, Summer, Savanah, Kaiden, Emery, Warner and Kaylee.
Arthur will fondly be remembered by everyone who was blessed to have met him. He always brightens everyone’s day. He was a selfless man who shared his kindness and selflessness with everyone. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping. If you knew Art, you knew how much he loved all animals, especially his fur baby Zoey!
The family would like to give a special thank you to Tina Fortier. You had a special little bond and he always felt he could confide in you.
