Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Anthony Maurice Granter announce his passing at the Central Newfound Regional Health Center, on March 24th, 2023, at the age of 61. He is predeceased by his parents Duncan (Don) and Elsie Granter and brother Clarence Gordon. He leaves to mourn his brother Fred (Linda) Granter; two sisters, Bernice (Job) Norris and Linda (Gerald) Thorne, and many nieces, nephews and their families. Maurice also leaves behind his devoted caregivers who became his second family.
Maurice had both epilepsy and low vision. However, he never allowed either of these to impact his quality of life. At an early age he enjoyed riding his bike and swimming. He attended the Lion Max Simms CNIB camp for several seasons and was an active participant of the CCB Helen Keller Club, especially enjoying their bowling league. His favourite pastimes were relaxing in his outdoor swing and listening to his music. He loved bright colours, wearing the brightest of tee shirts. He had a dry sense of humour and loved to tease his caregivers adding funny twists to their names. The biggest highlight of every year was his birthday.
The family wish to express special thanks to Dr. H. Bruce and Dr. S. Ralph, Pharmacist D. Snook, Provincial Home Care, Palliative Care Team/Staff, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Social Workers, past and present, who have worked diligently to advocate for the services he required. We have a special appreciation for those who have helped in the enrichments of Maurice’s life, especially his caregivers, who through their care and compassion, supported and encouraged him to live his best life. Thank you all.
