It is with heavy hearts and a feeling of great loss that the family of Annie Calder, nee Armsworthy, announce her passing on April 15, 2023. Annie passed surrounded by family, as she often was. Annie is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, John; her children, Karen (Lester Sampson); Brenda (John MacPhee); Terry (Maura) and Michelle(Ricky Carter). She was predeceased by her infant son Michael, her parents Harry and Josie (Jamieson) Armsworthy; her brother, Ray Armsworthy and her sister Dorothy Bond. She is survived by grandchildren, Nadia (Mike MacInnis); Michael (Kayla Carter); Samantha (Robert Matheson); Lesley(Kevin LeRue); Jessica(Craig Marchand); Sarah(Brad Bowman); Ainslie(Aaron Marchand); Breann(Tyler Pottie); and Brittany(Jordan Matthews). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Eileen George and Ruth Meeds, and many nieces and nephews.
Annie was the ultimate grandmother, great-grandmother, and crib player. The most kind and generous woman, she was known as “Gramma” to not only her immediate family, but many outside her family. No one left Gramma’s table hungry or thirsty. You could often hear Gramma say, “get my purse”, offering a little something to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annie loved music. Many of her fondest memories included her trip to Nashville and dancing with the gang to the fiddle music at The Points. She had a large circle of friends which included her dear friend Ann Richard.
Ann was employed with Canada Post during her career, including many years as Post Mistress in St. Peter’s.
Her family would like to thank Dr. DeRoach, the staff at Strait Richmond Palliative Care and the staff at Richmond County Home Care for their outstanding care. A heartfelt thank you to her granddaughter, Lesley Lerue RN for her devotion to Gramma.
No flowers by request. Donations can be made to the Craig Marchand Fund, the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greens Funeral Home. There is no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 21stat 11 am in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s.
Fr. Antolin Asor, OSA officiating. Burial is at a later date. A reception will be held in the St. Peter’s Lions Hall, 35 Lions Ave., St.Peter’s following the Mass.
