In Loving Memory of Ann Irene Kirby
Ann Irene Kirby, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, gracefully bid farewell to this world on July 4, at Credit Valley Hospital. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and a passion for gardening that touched the lives of many.
Ann was the daughter of Lloyd and Helen Gardner. In 1962, Ann joined hands in matrimony with the love of her life, Arthur Kirby. Ann was a doting mother to her three children, Lynn Kirby (Kirk McLachlan), Matthew Kirby, and Shelley Kirby. She nurtured their dreams, instilled in them values of kindness and empathy, and encouraged them to pursue their passions. Ann found joy in her children’s accomplishments and relished every moment spent with them.
In addition to her role as a mother, Ann had a talent for sharing her love of gardening with others. She would often be found in her flowerbeds, tending to her vibrant array of blooms. But it was her enthusiasm for guiding others that truly set her apart. Ann had a gift for advising fellow gardeners, sharing her knowledge, and gently instructing them on the art of planting.
Music was another source of immense joy in Ann’s life. The piano was her instrument of choice, and she would fill her home with beautiful melodies that resonated with her soul. Her passion for music extended beyond her personal practice, as Ann lent her voice to the Streetsville Choir. Her melodious notes could often be heard floating through the streets, bringing smiles to the faces of those who paused to listen.
Ann was preceded in death by her two siblings, leaving behind cherished memories of their shared experiences. Although their physical presence is no longer with us, their spirits will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
Ann Irene Kirby’s departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to inspire all those who knew and loved her. In expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her honour.
