Obituary
Amos Emile Landry, (1922-2023) Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Pierre and Alice (LeBlanc) Landry.
At a young age, he leaned to play a variety of instruments, but drumming is what he enjoyed best. He’s well known for his popular upbeat dance music & jazz. He formed The Amos Landry Orchestra in the early 40s, which CKCW would record live at times from The Embassy Ball room to entertain their listeners at home. Mid 50s he changed with the times to form The Amos Landry Quintet (AL5) .He retired from CBC Radio/TV, but will be remembered most for hosting fun filled dances for over 40yrs. Aside from his work and music career, Amos was a kind man who loved & lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for Golf, Politics & was a diehard Montreal Canadian Fan. He also enjoyed meeting “The Gang” early every morning for Coffee & a good laugh or two. Moncton has named him a Legend for all that he’s done & accomplished for our great City.
In 1949 he married the love of his life Helen “Cubby” (MacDougall) together they raised their two children Pierre Landry (Millie) & Lisa Landry-Wells (Wayne), A proud grandfather to Natasha Mowat (Rick), Matthew Mowat (Wanda), Susan Lombardo (Joe), Christine Slade (Robert); Cherished great grandchildren Taryn, Sabastian, Dakota, Joshua, Lilly, Ernesto, Antonio, Matteo, Vincenzo, Lauralai & Everleigh.
In addition to his wife Amos was predeceased by his siblings, Gerry, Ronald, Robert, Danny, Marion, Pauline and Doreen. Survived by His Brother Charles.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton (506-858-1995).
