Allan (Bud) Starkey age 83 passed away August 20 at Ridge Meadows Hospital after a short illness. He is predeceased by his Mother and Father Lois and Nick Starkey, and his nephew-in-law Darcy Leib He is survived by his loving wife Ethel of 57 years and his sister Joyce Phillips of Toronto.
His nephew Richard (Darcy) Phillips of Toronto. Niece Karla(Sergio) Balcells Phillips of Barcelona. Nephew in-laws Larry(Bea) Leib, Earl Grey, Marlin Leib of Southey, Lee(Glenda) Leib of Markinch, niece in-laws Wendy(Doug) Mohr of Yellowknife, Terry (Don) Caslake of Earl Grey, Sylvia (Steve) Loverick of Regina, niece-in-law Melanie Leib of Craven. And many great great nieces and nephews. He was raised on a farm in Craven, Saskatchewan which he still dearly missed. In 1967 Ethel and Allan moved to B.C. and lived in Maple Ridge since 1974, 26 years of which he was the local building inspector. His retirement years were spent trapping nuisance animals at which he excelled. He taught 300 students the trapping course and passed on his skills. Throughout his life he made many good friends. He is at peace now.
Many thanks to the caregivers on 3 North for their kindness and compassion. The hugs were the best.
There will be no service or memorial. Donations can be made to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, 11666 Laity Street, Maple Ridge, B.C.V2X 7G5
