Obituary For Aiden Williams
The world has lost an exceptional young man.
On Saturday, January 21st, 2023, Aidan Edward Williams died suddenly and tragically in Comox, BC. His family, friends, and all who knew him are devastated.
Aidan was born to Pam and Hywel Williams on March 14, 1997, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Aidan was a “breech baby” and was delivered via c-section; he was a challenge even before he was born.
Aidan is survived by his mother Pam Williams (Lyle Carlstrom), his father Hywel Williams (Nathalie Williams), and his sister Ariana Williams (Devon Chipman). Also left to mourn this unique human are Lyle’s kids, Nathalie’s boys, Papa Cled (Viv Woods), Aunty Susan Thompson, Aunty Susan Clark, Aunty Edith, Uncle Martin, and extended family throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Great Britain.
He attended École St. Gerard School in French Immersion and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in 2015. He made unforgettable impressions on all his teachers, friends, and support staff, loving to entertain those around him, but especially himself. He was always high energy – like a blow torch and occasionally boisterous – like a blow horn.
He was a key member of both schools’ rich championship volleyball programs. He took great pride in leading the St. Gerard Grade 9 team to an undefeated season and being one of the two Grade 10s on the 3A Provincial Championship team.
Aidan also loved being the life of the party, every party. Mixology was not just a job; it was a passion. He would mix drinks at any gathering whether he was paid or not. It was a creative outlet for him, inventing his own recipes and making meticulously crafted cocktails that were delivered with an easy tone and an infectious laugh. He would walk into a room, start making drinks, and walk out having made countless new friends.
Aidan’s other passion was properties. He had part ownership in a property investment company that he wanted to expand. He also worked in property management, most recently in Comox. He was energized by being out of the office and working with people- helping tenants on the ground as much as possible.
Throughout his life, he forged quick friendships that were built to last. Aidan didn’t have a best friend – he had dozens, and many of them were the same since he was 5. He was proud of the friends he made in childhood; though there were miles between them in his adult years, their connection remained strong and important to Aidan. And even with newer friendships, those bonds were deep and powerful.
Aidan will be greatly missed for the rest of our days. We hope he has found the peace that he richly deserved.
The service will be held on February 4, at 1 PM in the École St. Gerard Gymnasium with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Five Mile Hall. Live streaming of the service will be available – details will be posted on Facebook.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, it would mean a great deal if you could support a fund in Aidan’s honour at Bandaged Paws (bandagedpaws.org/) or the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention (www.sp-rc.ca/).
