Aida Rodier (Cardella) passed away at the Kemptville Hospital on January 10, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born in Montreal and grew up on Joliette Street. She was predeceased by all of her siblings and is the end of an era. She treasured her relationships with her many nieces and nephews.
Aida married John McIntosh Howey (predeceased) and moved to Ottawa to raise her family. She taught swimming and fitness for many years at the West End Y and later at the Jack Purcell Community Center and enjoyed working with people with disabilities. She was a champion blood donor, a volunteer for many causes and a member of her church community.
She loved animals, especially her many dogs and cats. After she retired, she fulfilled her dream of being a farmer by moving to Oxford Mills with her second husband Ernest Rodier. She was happy working in her gardens and sharing her produce, goat’s milk, and chicken eggs with neighbours and friends. Many thanks to Gord and Nancy, and Brant for helping her stay in her home in her later years.
Aida was mom to Jo-Anne Howey, John Michael Howey (predeceased), Janet Howey and Jennifer Howey. Chenoa LeBlanc and Simone Howey were beloved granddaughters.
She was always full of life and loved to laugh. She worked hard and was proud of her accomplishments and those of her children. News of any celebration of life will be shared at a later date. While we are sad she has gone, we know she is now at peace and has rejoined loved ones. We love you. Rest in peace.
