Obituary for
Albert Eloi Vaillancourt
On June 17, 2024, our loving and gentle father, Albert Eloi Vaillancourt, left us to be reunited with our Lord.
Dad was a man of great faith and true devotion to the Lord and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Pre-deceased by the love of his life, late Lois (née McAlendin, May 14, 2016), his 11 siblings, his mother, Annie (née Prieur) and father, Edouard. He leaves behind his 5 children, Gregory (Brigitte), Anne Marie, Margaret, Brenda (Tom), and John (Paula) and his grandchildren Alexis and Jacob Vaillancourt, Patrick and Jessica Morissette.
Dad was born in Markstay, ON on April 16, 1924. He was a proud Canadian and as a young man, applied to join the Royal Canadian Air Force where he graduated as a flight engineer on the Lancaster bomber months before the end of WWII. He worked for Procter & Gamble for 35 years.
Dad was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88, the Legion of Mary and the Timmins Amateur Radio Club.
Dad’s devotion to the Holy Family was one of the pillars of his life as was his devotion to St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of Departing Souls and Family.
The family would like to thank everyone who gave us love and support during dad’s last 6 months, especially Father John Lemire, Abbé Simon Drapeau, Ahme, Carol, Herry, Gisele, Rino, Doctor Hopkins, Doctor Ciccone, the staff on Medical C and the Hospice staff at Timmins and District Hospital.
There will be a funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19th at St Anthony of Padua Cathedral, officiated by Father John Lemire and Deacon Dave Smith. Interment at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery. A reception at the Miron-Wilson reception lounge following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Anthony of Padua Cathedral or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, Ontario.
