Mr. Sid Prystanski, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Care Group on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 82-years-old. Sid was born on December 8, 1941, in Port Arthur. As a young man he met Judy, the lady with whom he would marry, raise 3 children with, and recently celebrate 60 years of marriage. Sid enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing, especially at FWCC, where he was a longtime member, and he loved hockey. He and Judy enjoyed traveling with family and friends. The majority of Sid’s working life was spent with the Government of Canada Consumer and Corporate Affairs Department, retiring as District Manager after 30 years of service. Retirement did not slow Sid down. His entrepreneurial spirit led to other business ventures, the last of which was the purchase of Pakashkan Lake Lodge with his son Brian. Sid was an amazing grandfather to his grandchildren and was always there to support their endeavors. He was a staple at the local hockey rinks, making many friends, while watching his grandsons Ryan and Michael play. A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s did not stop Sid from living life his way. Sid and family did their best to ensure that he continued to do the things that he loved right up until his passing. Sid will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Judy, children: Brian (Shelley), Dawn (Kelly) Walsh and Kristine (Mark) Stubbs; grandchildren: Ryan, Julia and Olivia Walsh, Ally and Michael Stubbs and Keltie (Joe) Ford and Kortnie MacLeod; brother Larry (Daphne) Prystanski and sisters Judy Suseklis and Patti (Jim) McCart as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Mary, and sisters Gloria Andrusyk and Cathy Littleford. A celebration of Sid’s life will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort William Country Club. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the St. Joseph’s Foundation- Hospice Unit or the Lakehead Giving-Dementia Café ec.lakeheadu.ca/giving/fund-project would be gratefully appreciated.
