Tena (Teklia Kristia) Bylyna passed away on October 11, 2023.
Tena was born on July 8, 1935 at Dodsland, SK. Her early years were spent at Plenty, Gunnworth, Thrasher and Ruthilda. Following high school, she attended Teachers College in Saskatoon. She taught in the Rosetown School Unit for 37 years – the last 30 years at Walter Aseltine School in Rosetown. She enjoyed various sports, especially curling and bowling. Playing cards was fun for her too – especially Bridge and Kaiser. Although she had done some traveling, she enjoyed her own home best and loved to entertain. She was a very social person.
Tena was predeceased by her father Zacharko in 1961, sister Catherine Mary Tomchek in 1983 and mother Kateryna in 2000. She leaves to mourn her nephew Devin and wife Julie Tomchek, niece Tara and husband Danny Mantyka and their children Kalem, Hudson and Abby and her best friend Glenn Kidd. Also, the Nakonechny, Jewell and McKay cousins.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Rosetown Cemetery. A Come-and-Go Luncheon for Tena’s friends and community she loved so much will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Shanidar Funeral Services, Rosetown, SK – all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to STARS Air Ambulance, Hangar 21 – 2475 Airport Road, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 1M4.
