WILTZEN Janet Helen August 7 2022 avis de deces

It is with great sadness that we announce that Janet Wiltzen (Tweed) passed away peacefully at the Rivercrest Care Centre in Fort Saskatchewan on August 7, 2022.
Janet was born June 24, 1933 to Isabella and Hugh Tweed in Weyburn, Saskatchewan where she was raised with her sister Frances, and later, 3 step-sisters Agnes, Lily and Beatrice. She completed High School and then received a diploma in Bookkeeping and Accounting at the Weyburn College.
Upon completing her education, she departed for Vancouver, BC to begin what she thought was a cross-Canada tour. After working in Vancouver for a time she resumed her tour and arrived in Edmonton, found employment as a bookkeeper and joined the Strathcona Presbyterian Church where she met her husband Robert whereupon her plans took an abrupt turn.
Robert and Janet were married September 16, 1961 and moved to Fort Saskatchewan where they were active members of the community and raised their 4 children: Hugh, Rhoda, Jo Ann, and Robert (Bob).
Janet worked until her retirement as Manager of the Sherritt Gordon Employees Savings and Credit Union helping many young men and women save for and invest in their future.
Together with Robert, Janet joined the Cosmopolitan Band adult music program in 1981, both picking up the clarinet for the first time in their lives, starting a hobby and passion that was to remain with them both the rest of their lives. They formed the Fort Saskatchewan Community band in 1984 with their colleagues Donald Lee and Anita Kuzyk, a band which continues to this day. The two also joined the Golden Dreams band, branching into Big Band music, bringing entertainment and joy seniors’ home residents across Northern Alberta.
Together with Robert, sister-in-law Alaine and Clarence Goodyear, they formed the Team Wiltzen with in a mixed curling league that occupied every Sunday afternoon for over 30 years.
Janet was an avid gardener and spent countless hours over the years tending to her many ornamental gardens and the growing of food.
Janet will be remembered by her loving husband Robert, Sister-in-law Alaine Huszti, Brother-in-law Wes Baker, her children, 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, and her close and dear family and friends.
A private service will be held for family in Fort Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s honour to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of WILTZEN Janet Helen August 7 2022..
