FITZPATRICK, William“Willie”
Passed away suddenly due to pneumonia on April 17, 2022. He was born in Motherwell, Scotland, on July 18, 1951 to John (Jack) Fitzpatrick and Annie Blake Fitzpatrick, and moved to Canada in 1968. He is dearly missed by his loving sisters: May Merkle (Ron), Ann Lenchak (Walter – predeceased), Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Theresa Meikle (Craig) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Divers Fitzpatrick . His older brother Bernard passed away in 2021. His younger brother John passed away in 2012.
William will be remembered by his nephews and nieces: Bernard Fitzpatrick (Katharine), Lisanne Thomas (Bryce), Moya Murray (Mark), Kara Merkle-Gams (Sigi), Michael Santoro (Linda), Kimmarie Pierce (Chris) Johnathan Meikle and Cameron Meikle. He will also be remembered by his great nieces and nephews: Mia, Anelise, Blake, Chantale, Drew, Emma, Karina, Sabrina, Hallie, and Holden.
William will be missed by many wonderful cousins – the McAllister, McGuinness, McNeil, Schilling, Murphy, and Forrester families.
He was loved by family and friends in Canada, Scotland, England, United States and Germany. Willie was a lifelong Glasgow Celtic fan and loved watching games at Bramalea Celtic Club.
He loved to tell stories of growing up in Scotland. He really enjoyed riding his bike, watching boats on the lake and most of all visits from Ann and Jack the lad!
Willie will be remembered as a man who spoke the truth, cared deeply for his family and loved to tell a story.
William received support from the staff of Fairfield Residence, Community Living, Storefront Humber, Judson Street Day program, St. Leo’s Parish (The Two Margarets) St. Joseph Health Care Centre, and the many neighbourhood friends and businesses from Mímico to Long Branch whose kindness knew no bounds. The family thank all of you, named and unnamed, who helped William on his journey.

Visitation at G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Avenue, Etobicoke, on Saturday, April 30 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am then Mass at 11:00 am at St. Leo’s Parish Church, 277 Royal York Road, Etobicoke. A reception will follow the Mass at St. Leo’s lower level to meet the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation to a charity of choice or to take a moment to perform an act of kindness for a stranger in need.
