Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful man, William “Willie” Patrick Ryan was born on January 21, 1944 and passed peacefully away on March 29, 2022, while surrounded by loving family members at the Health Science Center, St. John’s. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.
Predeceased by parents William & Clara Ryan, infant brother Patrick; brothers: Raymond (Catherine), Dermot (Helen), James (Margaret) and Michael (Betty), brother-in-law Fabian Meaney, special uncle John Ryan and deceased members of the Meehan family.
Left to mourn with loving and precious memories, his devoted wife of 51 years, Ann (nee Meehan); sons: Steve (Nicole), Darrell and Billy, daughters: Linda (Derry) and Doreen (Dave); grandchildren: Julie (Chris), Derek (Donnika), Carson (Abby), Claire, Ryan and Ryder; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Devyn and Nash, sister Catherine Meaney (Lloyd), brother Allister (Tomasine); sisters-in-law Elizabeth Power (Joe) and Lena Bishop (d. Anthony), aunt Elizabeth Critch and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
We extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Health Science – 4 North B, for their excellent care. Also special thanks to Fr. Roche for his visits at the hospital, Gibbons’ Funeral Home and Todd and staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy
Dad worked hard all his life to provide a loving home for his wife and family. In “Longshore” he would always be around his shed and wood pile.
Resting at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s, on Friday, April 1, from 9:30am – 11:00am, immediately followed by Mass of Christian Burial (11am). Burial to follow. To express condolences online please visit our website at www.gibbonsfuneral.ca
