In Loving Memory – William J. Toms
It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William J. Toms
peacefully on May 21, 2022 in his 93rd year at Souris Hospital.
He will forever be remembered as a beloved husband
and father. Husband of Pauline Toms (nee Goudie), predeceased by his
first wife Elva Toms (nee Brown). Father of David (Linda) Toms, Cathy
(Brian) Donohue, Laurie Toms, Richard (Stacy) Toms; step-children
Karen Goudie and Jeff Goudie. Proud grandfather of Sean, Kadin, Owen,
Callum, Stephanie, Jordan, Amber and Michael. Son of the late Elmer
and Hazel Toms of Oshawa, ON., dear brother of Allan (Inge) Toms.
Predeceased by his sister Helen (Bill) Winfield; brothers Robert
(Doris) Toms and Kenneth (Catherine) Toms.
Bill
was a championship junior curler and avid sportsman who enjoyed the
outdoors and spending time with his family at the cottage. A GM
employee for 39 years, he rose from elevator boy to automotive
engineer in charge of a world-renowned Cold Weather Testing Facility
in Kapuskasing, ON. He loved working with his hands, fixing or
building anything, especially furniture for his children.
He will also be sadly missed by many great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
