William George Simmons February 26th 1956 October 27th 2022

Simmons, William George passed away peacefully after a brave fight with Muscular Dystrophy on October 27, 2022, at University Hospital London. He was in his 67th year. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Cindy Simmons. He was born in Woodstock, ON to Doris (nee Thompson) and George Simmons, both predeceased. He is survived by his sister Janet (Steve, predeceased) LeMesurier and brother-in-law Donald (Catherine predeceased) Doan. He will be missed by his sister-in-laws Lauretta (Tim) Dowswell, Audrey (Julien) Mallais and Bobbie (Paul) Kalar along with his many nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Fanshawe College. He started his working career at 3M in London. His next move was to Sarnia where he enjoyed a long career at Imperial Oil. He loved sports and politics and was eager to engage anyone in conversations on such topics. He loved to fish and take photographs, especially portraits, in his earlier years. Cindy and Bill enjoyed traveling the world with a particular fondness for cruises. Visitation will take place at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, between 6 and 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Sarnia on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Norwich will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sarnia & District Humane Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or Muscular Dystrophy (cheques only at the funeral home please).
