Obituary
Bud was born in Cadomin, AB and grew up in Edmonton, AB. Following high school he trained as an accountant with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He met Shirley in 1959 and they were married in Edmonton in 1961. In subsequent years, they raised a family of eight children.
He belonged to the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club in Edmonton in the 60s, and was a very competitive race car driver. He had a life-long interest in model aircraft.
Bud spent a number of years in various financial positions. He began working for the Town of Whitecourt, AB in 1980 first as Finance Director for one year, then as Town Manager until 2000. He was the Chairman of Sagitawah Employment Services in Whitecourt for the same 20 years, and then retired to Oliver, BC in 2000.
He moved to Keremeos, BC in 2005 where he and Shirley owned and operated Sagewood Mobile Home Park (now called Ridgeview Estates). He was also the treasurer for Keremeos’ Kars Under the K Show & Shine from 2005 until 2016.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; eight children, Roger (Avril), Shawn (Sharlane), Valerie, Mark (Barb), Patti (Paul), Michael (Cindy), Shelley, and Todd (Dianna); 19 grandchildren, Brad, Terri, Chase, Daniel, Ryan, Jodi, Shay, Stacey, Jesse, Stephanie, Reilly, Jackson, Citabria, Haylee, Scott, Braydon, Jaymee, Jerrica, and Dallas; 16 great-grandchildren, Antoine, Skyler, Ayden, Linkin, Liam, Logan, Jacob, Avery, Easton, Ethan, Grayson, Kendrick, Parker, Piper, Everett, and Emma.
He was pre-deceased by great-granddaughter Isabella Rose.
A Celebration of Bud’s Life will be held at the family home at 720 – 10 Avenue in Keremeos, BC on July 26 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
